History

Former COO of Tabs. I built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it. The numbers below come from videos that program produced.

At Tabs I was Former COO and built the creator program and the paid ad engine alongside it. The playbook here is the same: many small experiments, one variable per test, losers killed early. The category is different. Vehicle parts is not something I have run, so the claims sheet and fitment rules come before the first brief.

Why now

  • 62

Reviews on one Closed Box Air Intake listing

The listing already shows a review count. A creator can point at it on screen instead of making up proof.

    Published
  • 52

    Reviews on another intake listing

A second Closed Box Air Intake listing carries its own count. Different truck, same proof a creator can show.

    Published
  • 51

    Reviews on a third listing

Another count on another listing. Three listings with reviews means three different vehicle owners to brief.

    Published
  • 100,000

Maintenance Free Miles, in Volant's wording

The PowerCore filter line says '100,000 Maintenance Free Miles of Driving'. That wording belongs to the brand and only goes on the sheet as its own line.

    Published

Part 4 of 15

Principles

  1. One number to protect

Cost per 1,000 views, with a $1 target (Proposed). Pay, volume and formats all get judged against that one figure.

  2. One variable per test

Seven videos per creator per week, and each test changes only the hook. Same truck, same filter, different first line.

  3. Claims sheet before camera

Creators say what Volant's listings say, such as '1 Year Warranty' on the catch can. Nothing about horsepower or fuel savings.

  4. Losers killed early

A hook that stalls after the first week gets cut. Winners go into the hook library and get reshot on another vehicle.

Part 4 of 15, continued

One channel for everything

#briefs

Briefs, drafts, reviews and the weekly numbers

Illustrative
  1. MartaMon 8:30 AM

This week's brief: one video per format, Closed Box Air Intake for Silverado and Sierra owners. Show the engine and the vehicle first. Lines come from the claims sheet only.

  2. CaioMon 10:15 AM

Can I say the intake adds horsepower?

No. Only lines on the sheet. For the catch can use: Generous 3 oz. capacity lengthens service interval levels.

  3. Weekly botAppMon 7:00 AM

Report ready. Best hook: the dry filter soap-and-water routine. Two losers killed early. Cost per 1,000 views is on the page, with the Proposed target next to it.

  4. MartaWed 2:40 PM

Draft sent back. The voiceover claims the best filtration. That line isn't approved for this filter. Cut it and reshoot the first shot with the engine visible.

  5. Weekly botAppThu 6:05 PM

Rafa's Frontier video passed 100,000 organic views. The $50 flat bonus is queued. One per creator per month.

  6. MartaFri 9:00 AM

Check before posting: vehicle and engine on screen, fitment said out loud, no unapproved claim. Reply with the link.

Done. All three on screen, links in #drafts.

The messages illustrate the working channel, with invented people: briefs go out on Monday, claims questions get an answer the same day, and nothing posts without the check.

Part 5 of 15

Formats

  1. Fitment check

    Brief 01

    Fitment check

“Does this fit your Silverado? Check your engine first.”

Creator at the open hood, reads the vehicle and engine off the listing, then holds the box up to the bay.

  2. Dry filter routine

    Brief 02

    Dry filter routine

“Soap and water. This is the whole filter routine.”

Overhead shot of the DryTech filter being cleaned in a sink. Voiceover reads the brand's maintenance line.

  3. Oiled or dry

    Brief 03

    Oiled or dry

“Oiled or dry? Here are the filter options side by side.”

Two filters on a bench, creator holds each one up and names it. No performance numbers spoken.

  4. Intake unboxing

    Brief 04

    Intake unboxing

“Unboxing a Closed Box Air Intake for a 6.2L V8.”

Handheld unboxing on the tailgate, parts laid out in order, one close-up of the box and filter.

  5. Frontier owner Q&A

    Brief 05

    Frontier owner Q&A

“Nissan Frontier owners, there is a Closed Box for yours.”

Talking head beside the truck, answers three comments from the last video, points at the listing.

Every product line in a video comes off the claims sheet word for word, for example “Volant Performance 3 oz. aluminum oil catch can with mounting bracket”, “Generous 3 oz. capacity lengthens service interval levels”, “Filter Life: 50K Miles”. Product names are said as printed.

Part 6 of 15

Recruiting

Four sources in

  • Truck and SUV build channels

Owners who already post engine-bay work on Silverado, Sierra, RAM and F-150. They know the vehicles Volant lists.

  • Jeep and Wrangler owners

The catch can lists Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT fitment. Owner groups for those vehicles are a direct fit.

  • Garage and DIY creators

Creators who already show filter cleaning and intake swaps, and who can explain fitment without a script.

  • Affiliate or ambassador page

No affiliate or ambassador page was found on the site, so recruiting starts from direct outreach, not an existing program.

Five filters, fewer each step

  1. 1Owns a matching vehicle

Truck, SUV or Jeep that appears in the Volant vehicle search. No borrowed trucks.

  2. 2Shows the engine

Past videos with the hood open and the part visible, not only exterior shots.

  3. 3Reads a sheet

Can quote a line exactly and stop. Improvisers get a Starter slot at most.

  4. 4Clean audio

Voice audible over the engine. Seven videos a week only works if the first take is usable.

  5. 5No emissions-defeat content

Nothing in the channel history about removing or bypassing emissions equipment.

Part 7 of 15

Who

  • Silverado weekend owner

Drives a Silverado or Sierra, does his own maintenance, explains each step slowly.

Likely product: Closed Box Air Intake

  • Wrangler trail builder

Jeep JL or Gladiator owner who posts build updates and answers parts questions in comments.

Likely product: Aluminum Oil Catch Can w/ Bracket

  • F-150 garage regular

Ford truck owner with a steady engine-bay series and a loyal comment section.

Likely product: Aluminum Oil Catch Can w/ Bracket

  • Filter cleaning explainer

Shows maintenance routines at the sink and likes the soap-and-water angle.

    Likely product: DryTech Air Filter

  • Old-school oiled filter fan

Prefers oiled filtration and can explain the difference to newer owners.

    Likely product: Oiled Air Filter

  • Tacoma daily driver

Toyota owner who wants straight answers on fitment and what the box includes.

Likely product: Closed Box with Ram Air Scoop

Left off, every time

Anyone who shows an intake used to defeat emissions equipment, promises horsepower or mileage gains, can't show the vehicle fitting, or sells a competing intake. Category rule: no emissions claim without checking the CARB Emissions Information page first.

Claims

Approved, word for word

Quoted exactly as the brand publishes it.

  • “Volant Performance 3 oz. aluminum oil catch can with mounting bracket”

Catch can intro, any vehicle the listing names

  • “Generous 3 oz. capacity lengthens service interval levels”

    Catch can voiceover

  • “Machined and powder coated 11 gauge aluminum brackets provide a easily accessible secure mounting location that will not stress sensitive engine components”

    Bracket close-up shot

  • “1 Year Warranty”

    Catch can closing line

  • “Filter Life: 50K Miles”

    DryTech filter videos

  • “Choose a Drytech Dry Filter for improved performance, easy soap and water maintenance, ideal for all cars and trucks”

    Dry filter routine format

Never said

Each one with the reason it stays out.

  • It adds horsepower

No performance figure is on the approved sheet.

  • It improves fuel economy

    Not in Volant's listing wording.

  • Legal in every state

Emissions status depends on the listing and CARB information.

  • Better than any other intake

A comparison the listings don't make.

  • Fits any truck

Fitment is by year, vehicle and engine only.

  • Install it in minutes

No install time appears in the facts.

To confirm with the brand

Held until someone on the brand side signs off.

  • Free US Shipping on Orders $100+ (Lower 48 states)

The same banner warns some orders may take longer to ship. Confirm the current note before any creator mentions shipping.

  • CARB Emissions Information

Confirm which listings carry approval before any creator speaks to emissions.

Part 10 of 15

Pay

  • Starter

    $300–600

    a month, by band

New to the channel, one matching vehicle: a lower base and cap while we learn which hooks fit.

    Bonus at the cap: $300

  • Standard

    $500–1,000

    a month, by band

Steady posters with proven fitment videos: a higher base and a cap tied to their weekly volume.

    Bonus at the cap: $500

  • Premium

    $800–1,500

    a month, by band

Creators whose hooks already win in the library: the top base and cap, and first call on new formats.

    Bonus at the cap: $700

  1. Under 100,000 views

    $0

The base pay covers the work.

  2. 100,000 views

    +$50 flat

    Whatever the band.

  3. 1,000,000 views

    Top-up to your cap

Bonus = band cap − base pay.

  • One bonus per creator per month, however many videos pass 100,000 views.
  • Per video, flat: $50 once a single video passes 100,000 views.
  • Organic views only. Paid boosts of the same video never count.
  • No bonus on a video that broke the claims sheet or the category rule.

Starter: $600 cap − $300 fee = $300 bonus; Standard: $1,000 cap − $500 fee = $500 bonus; Premium: $1,500 cap − $800 fee = $700 bonus.

The bonus pays for reach after the work is done, never instead of it. One bonus per creator per calendar month keeps it an incentive and keeps the program cost predictable.

Part 11 of 15

On Assumption inputs the cost is $5.74 per 1,000 views against a $1.00 target. It closes if 4.2% of videos go viral or the median video reaches 21,711 views.

Above the $1 target at these inputs.

To hit $1, the roster needs about 10.1M views a month. That means about 4.2% of videos going viral, or a median near 22K views per video. That is why the day-90 gate exists: keep the accounts that clear it, replace the rest.

Proposed, not measured. Views = videos × median, breakouts at 10× the median, viral at 750K. Bonus: +$50 for a viral video, one per creator per month.

The math. Videos a month = 10 creators × 7 a week × 52 ÷ 12 = 303. Views per video = (1 − 4% − 0.5%) × 1,500 + 4% × 10 × 1,500 + 0.5% × 750,000 = 5,782.5; 303 videos × 5,782.5 = 1.8M views a month. Cost = 10 × $1,000 = $10,000 base + 1 bonus × $50 = $10,050. Cost per 1,000 views = $10,050 ÷ 1.8M × 1,000 = $5.74 against a $1.00 target. To hit the target, either 4.2% of videos go viral or the median video reaches 21,711 views, other inputs held.

Move the sliders and the label recalculates. The result is only as good as the guesses behind it, so the median views, the share of breakouts and the share of viral videos are marked as Assumptions until the first month of posts replaces them.

Exit to paid

From organic to paid

  1. Pick the winner

Choose videos past 100,000 organic views, not the ones with the best comments.

  2. Check the sheet

Every spoken line is matched against the claims sheet and the category rules before it moves.

  3. Get permission

Written usage permission from the creator before any paid use.

  4. Test one change

Run the video as is, then change only the hook. One variable per test.

From the video to the checkout

  • Intake videos land on the vehicle search, so viewers start from their own truck.
  • Filter videos link to Search Replacement Filters.
  • Catch can videos end on the listing that shows the 1 Year Warranty line.
  • Creators never promise a delivery date. The shipping banner says some orders may take longer.
  • The free shipping line is quoted exactly: Free US Shipping on Orders $100+ (Lower 48 states).

Part 15 of 15

Category rules

Aftermarket intakes: fit and emissions first

Volant sells to people who care about the exact vehicle, engine and emissions status. Creators follow these rules on every video.

  • Show the fit

Say the vehicle and engine out loud and show them on screen. Fitment is by vehicle and engine, never general.

  • Check emissions information

Before any emissions comment, check the listing and the CARB Emissions Information page. When unsure, stay silent.

  • No performance numbers

No horsepower, torque or fuel figures. The only performance wording allowed is what the claims sheet quotes.

  • Skip obsolete listings

Throttle Body Spacer listings are marked OBSOLETE. Creators don't feature them or any product marked that way.

  • Quote warranty exactly

Say '1 Year Warranty' as the catch can listing writes it. Don't stretch it to other products or add terms.

  • Respect the pay rules

A video that breaks these rules earns no bonus, and repeat breaks end the contract. Cap and bands stay as set (Proposed).

The brand’s legal team sets the final rules. This is the operating floor I’d start from, not legal advice.
